Moving Forward
I thought for awhile about deleting this because I’m tired of having so many internet and social media outlets repeating the same things. I gave myself a few weeks to come up with a more focused approach, and in the end I’ve got an idea that intrigues me enough to give it a try.
One of my strengths has always been finding simple ways to break down more complex problems. At times I feel hokey relying on metaphor and simile so heavily, but it works. Oddly enough, the one field I have a difficult time summing up quite so succinctly is one where I have a fair amount of knowledge: politics. Its hard to break down the layers of these issues in a simple “its like” statement, at least not in a way that does justice to the complexity. There needs to be depth, and that’s why I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about art in various media as an extended metaphor of sorts. Lyrics as a touchstone to current debates, cartoons delivering information layered with commentary, etc.
I’m still probably going to post captioned photos of Jesus on the turntables and Avi’s sweet slams, but at least I’ve got an idea of where I’m going and what I’m doing. I need something to separate me from the Republican Party.
